Hi, I'm Melissa.

You can say that photography runs in my blood. Grandpa was an amateur, but a good one; I treasure his photos the most. My uncle, his daughter, and now me.

I haven't always been a photographer. In another life, I was a custom cake baker and decorator and I bought my first DSLR to photograph those creations. After my children came, I spent more time taking photos and less time baking. Like so many other mom-togs, this is how I got my start.

I have photographed everything at one point or another in the past 9 years, but my heart is in children and family photography. I love candid moments, laughter, and movement. My style can be considered light and airy, maybe a little film-like, but I don't like to lose color. Golden hour and catches of light are my muse, and I try to pass on that etherial creamy goodness into all my images.

Harpen Studios, named after my babies Harry & Penny, has been serving families since 2016. I would love the opportunity to welcome you to my community.
